If you had the choice, how many days per week would choose to work remotely after the crisis has ended?
Over 80% of workers said they would like to work remotely at least one day per week after the crisis has ended. Almost 70% of respondents would like to work at least two days per week. Only 14% of respondents would choose not to work remotely in any capacity.
The general consensus is that a hybrid remote working strategy is what is most desired by workers. A hybrid part office work, part remote work brings all the benefits of remote working but maintains the human interaction that is cherished by workers.
The survey was conducted by the Whitaker Institute at NUI Galway and the Western Development Commission (WDC). In the survey of 7,241 respondents, some 83% want to be able to work from home at least some of the time. In May 2020, both Twitter and Facebook announced that they were putting in place permanent remote working policies.
These announcements are something we expect to see a lot more of in the coming months. Covid-19 has opened the door to remote working and it’s time for organisations to embrace the change. Workers now understand what is involved and have experienced it for themselves.
